Position Summary
The Data Governance Managers are responsible for the formation and execution of the data governance framework, policy, standards, and tools. This position will champion the communication of the value of data governance to stakeholders as well as provide education on data governance while increasing the data literacy of the organization.
Data Affect currently building a Global Data Analytics Platform to consolidate, harmonize, and govern the company/client’s data for all lines of businesses throughout the enterprise. In addition, Data Affect is starting to roll out
Self Service Analytical tools & capabilities that will provide analytical flexibility for business analysts to gather, model, and create their own data sets and reports without input from the BI teams.
This role is responsible for creating, managing, and driving the Data Affect`s
Data Governance, Self-Service Analytics, and Data Quality framework/strategy for enterprise data and analytics. As well as being a digital transformation change agent to ensure governance remains that the top of all employees’ minds.
Essential Functions:
- Managing a transformational cultural shift to modern BI, which requires buy-in from IT organizations, business functions, and leadership. Driving acceptance of new philosophies at multiple levels within the company will take time, leadership, and excellent communication skills.
- Ensuring the right balance between flexibility, agility, and data governance standards according to each business requirement and environment.
- Business prioritization on Governance against other projects, efforts that require resources, time, and effort. This role will need to ensure leadership in driving the business to understand the importance and value of Reporting & Data Governance in a Data-Driven Company.
Responsibilities and Qualifications:
- Manage Collibra license assignment, audit, and removal rules and procedures.
- Create and manage the Analytical certification process to promote
self-service reports into Enterprise reports.
- Identify self-service reports that should be considered for certification & migration to Enterprise reports.
- Review security of reports created by business analysts and determine any issues/risks.
- Provide input and consultation while scoping Enterprise Reporting scope & ensure development follows standards and protocols for delivery.
- Determine Tableau Premium authority (who can publish);
Identify at-risk workspaces in premium; Archival of Reports that are
unused or outdated.
- Owns standards, rules, procedures for Reporting within.
- Assist in defining the data management vision and implementing data management strategies and processes.
- Inventory and understand internal and external data.
- Monitor data governance processes.
- Develop and maintain data dictionaries and common metric definitions.
- Drive the capture of business definitions, taxonomies, and linkage to technical lineage within the metadata tool.
- Leadership role on project/business activities including but not limited to Internal Audit, Independent Audit, GDPR compliance, and various
Risk Assessments - ensure controls and processes are documented,
implemented, and monitored.
- Identify opportunities and processes to ensure data meets the following characteristics, including but not limited to accuracy, validity, reliability, timeliness, relevance, and completeness.
- Engages with business leadership to quantify and articulate the business impact of data quality issues.
- Develop remediation plans: monitor and track data quality issues, identify and close gaps in collaboration with business and IT groups.
- Develop data quality standards and implement monitoring processes.
- Engage leadership to advocate for the prioritization of data quality initiatives.
- Drive development and implementation of prioritized initiatives organization-wide to ensure goals are met. Build and conduct data quality maturity assessments.
- Ownership of Reference Data Management processes.
- Develop processes to facilitate engagement and collaboration with data owners, data stewards, data consumers and IT to collaborate on data definitions.
- Coordinate and execute information governance improvements across the enterprise.
- Communication lead of the information governance roadmap to senior management and governance committees.
- May lead a staff of Data Analysts/Stewards in implementing foundational processes and tools to support Information Governance Program for the organization.
- Promote ongoing engagement of data stewards and data domain owners within the data governance infrastructure.
